Travel Tips

Bring a wind proof jacket and binoculars so that you may view the penguins from the cliff tops at dusk. Allow a full day for travelling along the Great Ocean Road as there are many beautiful sights to explore. It will take less than 3 hours to get to Port Campbell by the inland route through Colac from Melbourne airport. (Only 2 hours from Avalon airport) Port Campbell is on a southerly point of mainland Australia so the climate differs vastly from Queensland.

When travelling from Melbourne via the A1, take the C163 south (approx. 12 km west of Colac) in the Simpson direction. Continue on the C163 to Scotts Creek, turning left to Port Campbell on the C164.

You will find Shearwater Haven beside the Great Ocean Road (B100) approximately 1 km North West of the Port Campbell village, as the Ocean Road turns towards Warrnambool. Approaching from the west, ours is the first accommodation sign you will see after passing the town lookout sign.
